COMPAGNIE GENERALE TRANSATLANTIQUE advertising perpetual calendar from 1971
Perpetual advertising calendar from Compagnie Générale Transatlantique.
Vintage version from 1971.
The calendar is made of églomisé glass.
The decor is designed by René Bouvard who was a French graphic designer, illustrator and poster designer. From the 1950s he worked for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique as workshop manager in the advertising department.
The decoration of this calendar represents numerous liners of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, against a background of compass roses and mythical marine animals,
The side knobs for adjusting the days are fixed on a plastic formwork.
Calendar published by A. Gerrer SA Mulhouse.
Dimensions: 37cm x 25cm.
The calendar is in working order.
The top left corner has a chip in the glass but the whole remains in good general condition.
This vintage version from 1971 is more difficult to find than the versions from the 1950s or 1960s. The ships depicted differ for this 1971 version.
This version includes the following ships from the 1970s: Pointe des Colibris, Ville de Mexico, Anjou, Atlantic Champagne, Magellan, Cleveland, France, Fred Scamaroni, Corse, Fort la Reine, Jacques Cartier, Antilles and Suffren.
It is interesting to note that the liner Antilles sank in 1971.
