Kyrgyz jug for Koumis vintage in glazed terracotta.
Koumis is a fermented mare's milk consumed by the people of the steppes of Central Asia. It is a fairly widespread drink in Mongolia and Kazakhstan, which is one of the oldest known productions alongside yogurt. It is the result of a double lactic and alcoholic fermentation of lactose. There is mild, medium and strong and it can be made with donkey or camel milk (source: www.professionfromager.com)
Kyrgyz-made jug, when Kyrgyzstan was part of the former Soviet Union.
The whole is in good condition.
There is a lack of varnish on the tip of the jug revealing the undercoat of paint.
Traces of paint on the bottom of the handle from before the paint was baked.
The inside of the jug is varnished.
